Political leaders have sent their commiserations to Rangers after they lost on penalties in the Europa League final to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Govan side lost 5-4 on pens after Aaron Ramsay saw his spot kick saved by the Frankfurt keeper Kevin Trapp.
Leaders from all sides paid tribute to Rangers for reaching the final in Seville after they beat Braga, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund on the way.
Former First Minister Alex Salmond said it was the "cruellest way" to lose a final.
He tweeted: "The cruellest way to lose an epic match between two fine sides. This Rangers team still did themselves, their fans and Scotland proud."
While, Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar said: "What a tremendous effort by @RangersFC!! While the loss in the final will hurt, they should be proud of the incredible journey."
Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross took to Twitter to say: "Well played @RangersFC. Not the result you deserved but you did Scottish football proud this evening."
Health Secretary Humza Yousaf tweeted: "Cruel, cruel way to lose it but every @RangersFC fan should be proud of their team getting to the final."
The game went to extra-time after it finished 1-1 after 90 minutes.
Joe Aribo opened the scoring for the Gers after a slip from a Frankfurt defender allowed him to slot it past Kevin Trapp.
Just over 10 minutes later the Germans equalised through Rafael Borre after he got ahead of the Rangers defence to beat Allan McGregor.
Gers finished extra-time strongly and Ryan Kent was denied at close range before Steven Davis had a shot cleared off the line, while James Tavernier had a free-kick saved in stoppage-time of the 1-1 draw.
Aaron Ramsey, a 117th-minute substitute, saw his spot-kick saved and Borre netted to seal a 5-4 shootout win.
Ahead of the final Sturgeon, Boris Johnson, Labour leader Keir Stamer, SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford and Lib Dem leader Ed Davey all sent their good luck messages to the Ibrox side.
