A 39-year-old Polish man has been found guilty of assaulting Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in June, as reported by national broadcaster on Wednesday.
The man could face four months in prison and deportation from Denmark for six years, according to sources.
Frederiksen was assaulted in a public square in the capital Copenhagen on June 7, as confirmed by her office.
The Polish man claimed that he cannot recall the incident as he was intoxicated at the time, according to reports.
Frederiksen, who leads Denmark's center-left Socialist Democratic party, has been serving as prime minister since 2019.
