Policeman attacked before West Ham vs Fiorentina Europa Conference League final with 16 detained

Sixteen Fiorentina supporters have been detained by Czech Republic police for allegedly attacking West Ham fans and injuring three, along with assaulting one police officer, a statement from Czech police has confirmed.

The two teams are set to meet in the Europa Conference League final in Prague on Wednesday evening with 20,000 West Ham fans travelling to the Czech Republic capital for the game.

The full statement from the Czech Republic police posted on Twitter read: "Italy fans attacked West Ham fans in a bar in Rytířská Street, injuring three. One policeman was also attacked. We have restricted the personal freedom of 16 people and we are currently investigating the whole incident."

This incident follows on from the AZ Alkmaar ultras attempting to get into the West Ham family zone during the semi-final second leg in the Netherlands.

The match is set to kick off at 8pm in the Fortuna Arena in Prague which holds 19,370 fans which has resulted in only 4,000 tickets being offered to West Ham fans.
