A POLICE van caught fire and a man was injured in an incident involving “several men with weapons” in Glasgow on Sunday evening.

Armed police were called to the incident in Muirshiel Crescent, in the Priesthill area of the city, at about 7.15pm on Sunday.

Other emergency services were also in attendance.

Officers said a car involved in the incident caught fire after colliding with several parked vehicles.

A police van parked in the road also caught alight due to the spreading flames.

Police said a 19-year-old man was found injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and released without charge.

Police said inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident, and they have called for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Gordon Walker said: “This disturbance took place within a busy residential area, and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“We’d particularly like to hear from anyone with private CCTV, mobile phone or dash cam footage which could be of significance to the investigation.

“We understand incidents of this nature can be very unsettling for the local community and we’ll have additional patrols in the area to provide reassurance.

“Anyone with concerns or information can approach officers on patrol who will be happy to assist.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
