Police 'unable' to move anti-abortion protesters targeting Glasgow clinic

Anti-abortion protestors demonstrate outside sexual health clinic in Glasgow

REPORTS on social media of anti-abortion protesters demonstrating outside a sexual health clinic in Glasgow have emerged.

Photos show two men standing outside the Sandyford clinic holding placards calling abortion "murder" and warning of "sin".

A series of video clips shared by pro-choice activist group Back Off Scotland show the men outside the clinic wearing microphones and shouting while a police van is parked behind them.

Back Off Scotland tweeted: "Sandyford Clinic, Glasgow right now. Police have been and say they can't move them on."

The group claimed that a member of staff had told them that the demonstration was so loud that they could not consult and that patients were in distress.

Comedian Janey Godley retweeted one of the videos and wrote: "Lots of men arguing LOUDLY about the gates of hell as women try to get rape counselling at the Sandyford Clinic in Glasgow."

Back Off Scotland is currently campaigning for the implementation of buffer zones of 150 metres around clinics that provide abortion services or advice in Scotland.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
