A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries and two people have been arrested after an alleged 'stabbing' in Glasgow's East End in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Emergency services raced the Haghill area of the city, around a mile north of Celtic Park, at around 1.35am. Walter Street and Aitken Street have been locked down by cops after the 33-year-old was found injured by police.
The streets have been closed off to vehicles and pedestrians by cops while officers investigate. The man was rushed to the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated.
A 56-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the incident, police confirmed.
Pictures from the scene show a cordon at the entrance to a corner block of flats at the junction of Aitken Street and Walter Street. Officers are understood to be on guard within two stairwells within the cordon.
One local told Glasgow Live: "Police have shut down two streets with tape. There is major police presence out one stairway which is taped off on Walter Street, Aitken Street is also shut down with police guarding a second stairwell."
The witness said there were at least four police cars in the area, while another said they saw up to seven vehicles patrolling the area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a man seriously injured on Walter Street, Glasgow, around 1.35am on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
“Emergency services attended and the 33-year-old man was taken to The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. A 56-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing.”
A Scottish Ambulance spokesperson said: “We received a call at 1.29am on Tuesday, June 27, to attend an incident in Glasgow. We dispatched one ambulance and a critical care paramedic to the scene.
"We transferred one male patient to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
