Police surrounded a block of flats after a man who appeared unwell "became aggressive" and allegedly brandished a knife.
Around eight police vehicles, as well as fire crews and an ambulance, were spotted at Well Lane and Old Chester Road, Tranmere, this evening. Several police officers with riot shields were also seen on the street.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue confirmed that they were called around 4pm to assist with the other emergency services with an "ongoing incident". It is believed the road remained open but eye witnesses said the main focus of attention appeared to be nearby flats at the junction.
