Police statement as man taken to hospital over reports of 'machete attack' in Kirkby-in-Ashfield

Police have issued a statement over reports of a 'machete attack'. Detectives said a man was assaulted in Poplar Avenue, on the Coxmoor Estate, on Friday (May 6).

The incident happened at around 1.50pm and the man was taken to hospital for treatment. It follows reports on social media which suggested a machete may have been involved. But Nottinghamshire Police have not confirmed if this was the case.

Inspector Abigail Goucher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are still in the early stages of our investigation and officers are working hard to understand what has happened. We would ask anyone who may have information or witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to us by calling 101, quoting incident number 404 of May 6, 2022.”
