Police statement as forensic tent put up over 'disturbed ground' at Leeds church

Mystery surrounds a police cordon that was put up yesterday in Leeds to investigate a 'disturbed area of ground'.

Pictures emerged on Tuesday, June 7, of a Crime Scene Investigation tent and police vehicles outside Hunslet Church of the Nazarene in Lupton Street. Police guarded a large cordon outside the church while the investigation was ongoing.

At least three police vans were spotted in the area, with pictures showing the white tent up in the car park.

"Officers attended and a police cordon was put in place while the scene was examined but nothing of concern was found and the scene was removed."

LeedsLive asked for clarification regarding how the ground was disturbed and the nature of the concern but the police declined to release any further details.
