Police have released a statement after the main terminal at East Midlands Airport was evacuated after a suspicious package was found by a police officer just after 3pm on Tuesday, May 10.
Leicestershire Police say the terminal was evacuated "in in the interest of officer and public safety" and the explosive ordnance disposal was called. The package has been found to not pose any risk of harm to the public and police say no-one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Shortly after 3.10pm today (Tuesday 10 May) a report was received in relation to a suspicious package being located within the main terminal at East Midlands Airport. In the interest of officer and public safety the terminal has been evacuated.
