A BMW driver was stopped after police made a discovery.
Merseyside Police spotted the white BMW 4x4 close to Lyme Street Primary School in Newton-le-Willows on January 26. Officers decided to stop the car and carry out some roadside checks.
It was discovered that the man driving the vehicle did not carry a full driving licence, only a provisional. He also did not have insurance for the car.

It is illegal for a learner driver to drive a vehicle without being accompanied by a qualified driver who has held a licence for at least three years. Drivers may receive a fine and penalty points if caught driving without a qualified driving licence.
All new drivers have a two-year probation period where only six penalty points result in a ban, instead of 12, drivers without a full licence or insurance could be given six points in one go.
This would see new drivers facing a year's ban as soon as they pass their test, which may also mean they need to resit the test. The BMW was seized by police and the driver was reported for motoring offences.
