Police seeking witnesses after pensioner, 92, hit by car and left with head injuries in Houghton

A 92-year-old pensioner was left with head injuries and a broken ankle after she was hit by a car.

The elderly woman was struck by the vehicle as she crossed Chester Road in Shiney Row, Houghton-le-Spring, at around 3.20pm on January 16.

She was given initial treatment by paramedics at the scene but later taken to hospital with head injuries and a fractured ankle.
