Police searching for Nicola Bulley release picture of 'key witness'

Police leading the search for Nicola Bulley are keen to trace a key witness who they believe was in the area.

The 45-year-old vanished last Friday morning while walking the family dog along the River Wyre in St Michael's-on-Wyre in Lancashire. Police and search and rescue teams have been looking for Nicola since.

Lancashire Police is appealing for help to trace who they believe is a key witness on the morning of Nicola's disappearance. A woman was seen walking on Garstang Road and Blackpool Road, St Michael’s on the morning of Friday, January 27 pushing a pram.

Posting on social media, a spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "She was seen walking from the direction of Allotment Lane towards the Grapes public house at approximately 8.22am and is seen again walking on Allotment Lane towards Garstang Road at 8.41am.

"It is believed that the female in question may have walked along the river path during these times and so detectives want to speak to her and urge her to get in touch We are also appealing to anyone who was driving down Blackpool Lane/Garstang Lane on the morning of Friday 27 January between the times of 9am and 10am who has dash cam footage on their vehicles to make contact."

They added: "Whilst you may not think that you hold any relevant information, it is really important that we gather as much footage as possible from the area that morning so we can review every piece meticulously to establish whether Nicola can be seen. We know from the footage we are currently reviewing, that this is a busy road, particularly at that time in the morning.

"There will be many people who were in that area at the time who may not think they can help, however we would urge you not to make that decision yourself and to come forward so we can have as much material as possible to assist the investigation. If you were in a car or cycling in the area and have footage, please get in contact."

Anyone with information or footage is asked to call 101, quoting log 565 of January 30. For immediate sightings, please call 999.

Nicola's sister previously hit out at the police theory that the mum-of-two had fallen into the river. Louise Cunnigham took to Facebook to share a new appeal following a press conference from Lancashire Police on Friday, February 3.

During the press conference, Superintendent Sally Riley confirmed to the press that the 45-year-old was believed to have fallen into the river.

Nicola's phone is believed to have been placed on a nearby bench at around 9.20am while on a Microsoft Teams conference call. The phone was later found shortly after 9.30am.

Following extensive enquiries, police have searched 15km of the river as well as a 1km radius of ground around the bench where Nicola's phone was last seen. Hours after the press conference, Nicola's sister posted: "Please keep sharing my Nikki.

"Off the back of the latest police media update, please can I add there is no evidence whatsoever that she has gone into the river, it’s just a theory. Everyone needs to keep an open mind as not all CCTV and leads have been investigated fully, the police confirmed the case is far from over."
