Police search for Vic sex offender

Registered sex offender Russell Jones last had contact with authorities on February 25. (AAP)

Victoria Police is searching for missing registered sex offender Russell Jones.

The 40-year-old is wanted for failing to comply with his reporting obligations.

Investigators believe Jones is currently living in the Lilydale area, in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, but he is actively avoiding police.

Jones is also known to frequent Windsor, St Kilda, South Yarra, and the Melbourne CBD.

He last had contact with authorities on February 25.

Jones is about 171cm tall, with a thin build, brown eyes and short dark, greying hair.

Anyone who sees Jones is urged to contact triple zero immediately.
