Police continue the hunt for a suspected killer after a woman was allegedly murdered in her apartment in Sydney's west.
Emergency services arrived to a unit on Newman Street in Merrylands on Sunday night to find 42-year-old woman Erin Gilbert dead.
Superintendent Andrew Holland said when police arrived her husband was trying to administer CPR to Ms Gilbert in the main living room.
The 38-year-old man had earlier made the triple-0 call, and has been "very forthcoming", Superintendent Holland said.
However, no suspects had been "ruled in or ruled out at this stage", he said.
"Definitely we believe something's happened on Sunday night ... when police arrived, she hadn't been passed away for long," he said.
"Erin was at home in her unit block that evening ... we are aware that neighbours have heard her at the unit block, she's been speaking that night.
"We're just concerned somebody else may have been at the unit block with her."
Superintendent Holland said Ms Gilbert was known to police for "minor matters", and had moved to the Merrylands area with her husband about seven months ago.
He was questioned by police on Monday but has since been released pending further inquiries. No charges have been laid.
The ABC understands homicide detectives are now pursuing all leads as they work to locate potential suspects.
They are investigating the possibility that people involved in the alleged murder fled the apartment block.
A public appeal for any information has been made as police seek to piece together what happened.
An extensive crime scene search by specialist forensic police has taken place and Strike Force Trevelyan has been formed to investigate with assistance from State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.
Another violent death over Easter weekend
It was the second instance of a woman being killed in her own home over the weekend in Sydney.

Her partner, Anthony Eriksen, 61, was charged with murder.
He appeared before Parramatta Bail Court on Monday but no application for bail was made.
According to Mr Eriksen's LinkedIn profile, he most recently worked as a food educator, after employment as a fund manager, and received degrees from Stanford University School of Medicine, and Harvard University.
