A POLICE Scotland officer has appeared in court after being accused of four sexual assaults.
Trevor James McConnachie, aged 29, was arrested and charged in November following a complaint in September, the force said in a statement.
The officer is also facing one further charge over an accusation of abusive behaviour towards a partner or ex-partner.
McConnachie, who works in Wick in the Highlands, appeared in private in the town’s sheriff court on Tuesday.
McConnachie, who gave his address as Police Scotland’s Professional Standards Department in Glasgow, gave no plea and was released on bail pending further investigation, according to a report in the Press and Journal.
The alleged offences occurred through 2023 in Caithness, it is claimed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Wednesday, 8 November, 2023, a 29-year-old officer was arrested and charged with sexual offences following a complaint in September, 2023.
“He is due to appear at Wick Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 12 December, 2023. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
