Police say dentist and tattoo artist to be interviewed in investigation into death of Niamh Finneran Loader

Baca dalam Bahasa Indonesia

Denpasar's police chief says a tattoo artist and a dentist will be interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation into the sudden death of a West Australian university student in Bali.

Niamh Finneran Loader, 25, had flown to Indonesia for dental treatment but was found dead in Bali on December 2.

In an interview with the ABC, Denpasar Police Chief Commissioner Bambang Yugo Pamungkas said Ms Loader's body was found in a hotel bathroom in the Kuta area by hotel engineering staff who went to repair an air conditioner.

"We have now interviewed seven witnesses, mainly from the hotel, including front office staff, housekeeping, reception, their supervisor, and the victim's biological mother," he said.

Mr Pamungkas said police are now going to take statements from a dentist and a tattoo artist.

"Once we've done this, we will share the results as well as the progress of this investigation," he said.

Mr Pamungkas did not provide further details about the tattoo work Ms Loader had in Bali.

But he said Ms Loader landed in Bali on November 26 and stayed at the same hotel, the Famous Hotel, until her death.

"At the moment we are still checking everything … and we are doing it very intensively."

When asked whether Bali police had previously received a malpractice report or complaint about either the dental or tattoo clinic, Mr Pamungkas said "until now the Denpasar police have never handled a malpractice case".

Mr Pamungkas added that an autopsy had also been carried out at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar.

"The results of the pathology test will be out in about a month from now … while the toxicology results will be out in about two weeks," he said.

"After the results are out, the conclusion will be announced by the forensic doctor."

Ms Loader's parents have flown to Bali to arrange the repatriation of her body.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed it was providing consular assistance to the family.

The dental clinic Ms Loader attended was regularly visited by overseas tourists, including Australians, the ABC has confirmed.
