Fears that a crash would impact matchday traffic ahead of Fulham's visit to St James' Park on Sunday have been unfounded after the vehicle was quickly cleared by police.
Northumbria Police received a call at around 10.45am that a white Nissan Juke had been involved in a collision at the junction where Stanhope Street meets Barrack Road, just a few hundred metres from St James' Park.
However, officers removed the car which obtained extensive damage to its front by 11.31am. Thankfully, no-one was injured in the incident which only involved the white Nissan Juke pictured above.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police told ChronicleLive that the vehicle had been moved away from the junction safely and was awaiting recovery, while debris were being removed from the road.
At the time of writing, the junction is now clear and both Stanhope Street and Barrack Road are open.
Fans travelling should now have a relatively clear path to see if Newcastle can wrestle back third place from Manchester United with a win against sixth-placed Fulham.
