Police-recorded religious and race hate crimes hit record high

Police-recorded hate crime in England and Wales has risen 7% year-on-year, including record highs in both those that were racially and religiously motivated.

There were a total of 146,825 hate crimes recorded by police in the two nations in the year to March 2026, according to Home Office data.
