Police re-appeal for information about Renton man George Walker a week after disappearance

Police have issued a fresh appeal for information about missing Renton man George Walker, a week after his disappearance.

George was last seen at around midnight on Friday February 25 walking in the direction of West Bridgend, after enjoying an evening at the Burgh Bar in Dumbarton with a friend.

He was reported missing after uncharacteristically missing work on Tuesday March 1.

George is assumed to have left the pub with the intent of making his way home to Renton and has not been seen since.

He is described as around 6ft tall, with long brown hair and blue eyes.

When last seen, George was wearing a jumper with blue, green and white horizontal stripes, a green parka-style jacket, blue jeans and grey trainers.

Today (Friday) friends organised a search of the area between Renton and Dumbarton, whilst a police helicopter has been brought in to help with the investigation.

Inspector Morven Sutherland, of Clydebank Police Station, said: "One week has now passed since George was last seen and his family remain extremely concerned and anxious about his welfare.

"Through our extensive enquiries we know the last sighting of George was of him walking in the direction of West Bridgend, towards the bridge over the River Leven, after leaving The Burgh Bar, in Dumbarton on Friday, 25 February, 2022.

"It is completely out of character for George not be in touch with his family or friends and he has never gone missing before.

"Searches and activity will continue throughout the local area, including Dumbarton town centre and the area towards Renton.

"I would like to thank the public for the support they have given so far in helping us to trace George.

"If anyone has noticed someone matching his description, I would urge them to contact police as a matter of urgency.

"If you have, or have any information which could assist with our enquiries, please contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0597 of Tuesday, 1 March, 2022."
