Police have carried out a search of the SNP head office in Edinburgh today as part of a wider investigation into party finances.
Numerous officers were seen entering Gordon Lamb House before 9am.
The building is just a short distance from the Scottish Parliament building in Holyrood and is used as a base by dozens of party staff.
The raid was carried out around the time Police Scotland arrested Peter Murrell, the former SNP chief executive, at his home in Glasgow.
The constabulary confirmed a 58-year-old was in custody and now being questioned.
A media spokesperson said that "officers are also carrying out searches at a number of addresses as part of the investigation".
A report will be sent to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.
Murrell, 58, is the husband of Nicola Sturgeon.
The SNP last week elected Humza Yousaf as its new leader after she took the decision to resign in February.
In a statement, an SNP spokesperson said: "Clearly it would not be appropriate to comment on any live police investigation but the SNP have been co-operating fully with this investigation and will continue to do so.
"At its meeting on Saturday, the governing body of the SNP, the NEC, agreed to a review of governance and transparency – that will be taken forward in the coming weeks."
