Two people have been arrested following a pursuit through Cardiff on Wednesday evening. Road policing officers spotted the suspected stolen vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner through City Road, Albany Road, Broadway and Newport Road in Cardif before colliding with a parked trailer.
Two men, both 19, were arrested in connection with the incident and the pair were subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of committing numerous offences. The police later confirmed that the white Volkswagen Polo had been stolen from Cardiff last year.
The incident was recounted on the South Wales Police roads policing unit's official Twitter account @SWP_Roads in a post that was uploaded at 2.33am during the early hours of this morning, along with an accompanying photograph from the scene. The post read: "Suspected stolen car sighted in Cardiff and made off on seeing our traffic cars.
"A pursuit ensued but it crashed a short time later. Two in custody for numerous offences. Turns out the car was stolen from Cardiff last year."
In a statement, a spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "The pursuit began at approx 10:25pm on February 22. The vehicle was driven in a dangerous manner through City Road, Albany Road, Broadway, and Newport Road before colliding into a parked trailer at 10:30pm. Two men, both aged 19, were arrested."
