Police probe 'unexplained death' as body of man found near road outside Glasgow

The body of a man has been found near a busy commuter road near to Glasgow.

Police and emergency services were alerted to the A81 in the village of Strathblane around 11 miles north of Glasgow around 4pm yesterday afternoon amid a report of concern for a person.

Sadly, the 64-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers say the death is currently being treated as unexplained and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for a person on the A81 at Strathblane, around 3.50pm on Friday 29 April.

“Emergency services attended and a 64-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
