Police are currently at the scene of a suspected cannabis farm in North Shields.
Officers from Northumbria Police are searching a premises on Saville Street West, having been alerted at 5.15am on Thursday.
Photos from the scene this morning show a large number of police officers searching a retail space, with multiple marked police cars lining the street and roads behind the building.
Police officers wearing masks and gloves were seen entering the building behind a raised shop shutter.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “At 5.15am today police were contacted in relation to a suspected cannabis farm at a premises on Saville Street West, North Shields.
“Officers are currently in attendance at the scene, carrying out a range of enquiries, including a search of the address.”
