Police officer sent information about suspects to wealthy victim who told her he was 'on his way to strangle them'

A policewoman quit her job in disgrace after being caught passing on sensitive information about suspects to a wealthy businessman out for revenge after a burglary.

PC Claire Ford, 39, had illegally disclosed details from the force computer to plant hire boss James Ashbrook following a break in at his home. She then offered further help when he warned he would 'strangle' the culprit who stole his Land Rover, providing details about suspects and their criminal records.

Ashbrook, 40, requested information on the individuals he was targeting in WhatsApp messages, asking Ford to 'turn a blind eye' to any offence he may commit. The messages were uncovered by cops after Ashbrook was arrested.
