A Merseyside Police sergeant has received a final written warning after he referred to a colleague's ethnicity in an "inappropriate" way.
Sergeant Craig Baker was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour to the level of gross misconduct at a two day misconduct hearing on August 1 and 2. Sgt Baker breached the force's standards under the sub-categories of equality and diversity, authority, respect and courtesy, and discreditable conduct.
The allegations were brought to the panel following an investigation by the Professional Standards department. The panel heard Sgt Baker made the racist comment during conversations with a colleague on Wednesday, August 27 2021.
