A woman was handed a suspended prison sentence after she a assaulted a police officer in Radford.
Melissa Denman, 26, attacked the male officer as he responded to reports of a disturbance at an address in Alfreton Road, Radford, shortly before 10.50pm on Thursday, February 3.
She kicked him to the body and then hit out again from the back seat of a police car.
Denman, of Radford, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to common assault of an emergency worker.
She was given a 16 week jail sentence suspended for 18 months and ordered to pay compensation of £100.
Detective Inspector Marcus Oldroyd of the Nottinghamshire Police city prisoner handling unit, said: “Officers go to work every day with one goal in mind – to keep the public safe from harm.
"Any form of physical attack on them is entirely unacceptable and will always be dealt with robustly, as Denman has now found out.
“Her behaviour on this occasion was appalling and I am pleased she has now been dealt with by the courts. I hope she uses this experience to change the direction of her life and stay out of trouble in future.”
The officer suffered some discomfort following the assault but was not seriously hurt.
