A criminal investigation into a police officer has been launched after a woman was killed by a marked car on Christmas Eve.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has confirmed it is conducting a criminal investigation into the actions of a Merseyside Police officer in connection with the death of Rachael Moore. The 22-year-old carer was hit and killed by a marked police car while crossing Sheil Road, Kensington, at around 8.10pm on Christmas Eve last year.
The IOPC began its investigation into the crash following a mandatory referral from Merseyside Police. The ECHO revealed last month that the officer involved in the crash was responding to an emergency call when they hit the former Liverpool Hope University student.
