A police officer is facing a gross misconduct hearing following an off-duty violent incident at Leeds train station.
PC Manjit Chahal of West Yorkshire Police is alleged to have become involved in a violent incident when he was off-duty on July 18, 2021, which required the attendance of police officers.
Details of the gross misconduct case have been published by West Yorkshire Police on the Force website ahead of a hearing at police headquarters in Wakefield on May 9 and 10.

It is alleged that, on July 18, 2021, whilst off duty, PC Chahal was involved in an incident that resulted in police attendance. CCTV shows an officer in a physical altercation with another man inside Mcdonald's at Leeds train station, according to West Yorkshire Police. During the altercation, it was alleged that he had punched another man and he was subsequently removed from McDonalds by security staff.
A further physical altercation is alleged to have taken place on the railway concourse involving PC Chahal, his friend and the other man. PC Chahal continued to fight with the man and punched him on numerous occasions during the incident, the Force said.
"When British Transport Police attended, PC Chahal was uncooperative and challenging and refused to provide his details which resulted in him being arrested," according to West Yorkshire Police's account of events.
"PC Chahal was argumentative and abusive and accused the officers of being racist.
"In behaving in such a way, it is alleged that PC Chahal has acted in breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to discreditable conduct and authority, respect and courtesy."
