A manhunt has been launched for a convicted murderer who absconded from open prison.
Jason Mills, 49, attended Bridewell police station in Bristol city centre on Wednesday morning but failed to return to HMP Leyhill as required.
Officers warned anyone who sees Mills - who has links to Essex - to dial 999 and not to approach him.
The killer was found guilty in 2001 of murdering girlfriend Toni Mills, 24, in Essex Avenue, Jaywick.
She had a four-year-old son at the time of her death.
It later emerged Mills had 99 previous convictions including theft, fraud and firearms offences.
We need the public to call 999 if they see Jason Mills, 49, who failed to return to HMP Leyhill yesterday (6 Apr).
