Police make arrests following Wishaw and Shotts break-ins

Police in North Lanarkshire have made a number of arrests following alleged break-ins over the weekend.

A man was arrested following an incident in Shotts on Saturday morning.

Police were called to attend a report of a disturbance on Station Road at 10.30am on July 9.

They had received a report that a male had been observed trying to break into motor vehicles and when challenged he had allegedly presented a large kitchen knife and made threats towards people who were present.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident.

Police in Lanarkshire are also appealing for information following a housebreaking in Shotts in the early hours of last Saturday.

They are currently investigating the break-in incident that occurred on Thompson Avenue in the town at 2.50am on July 9.

It was reported that two people were seen in the vicinity of a property in the street making efforts to force entry at various points around the house, before eventually entry was gained through the front door.

If anyone is able to assist with the enquiry or identify any suspects they are being urged to contact 101 quoting incident number 1165 of 09/07/2022.

Just over 24 hours later three men were arrested in Wishaw after police received a report that a group of males were within a building with the intent to commit theft.

Cops were alerted to the incident at 3.55pm on Sunday, July 10 and when they arrived at the address in Castlehill Road they traced three people within the property. They were arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident.

A number of items were also stolen from the boot of a car parked outside Asda in Motherwell on Friday afternoon.

The theft occurred between 2.50pm and 3.30pm on July 8 in the supermarket car park on Watson Street
