Police 'lost for words' as wrecked BMW driven for miles after M6 crash

Police said officers were 'lost for words' after pulling over a wrecked BMW they said was driven on for miles after a motorway crash on the M6.

The mangled metal of the car's badly damaged bonnet ended up as high as the middle of its windscreen, but police said the driver 'decided it was safe for her to continue'.

The car - believed to be a BMW 1 Series - had also suffered extensive damage to its front end and wheel arches, an image revealed by police shows.

According to unverified reports on social media, it was driven on for around 15 miles after being involved in a collision on the M6 motorway.

A specialist roads policing unit tweeted out the photo on Tuesday morning, although it hasn't been confirmed when the collision took place. Thankfully, there were no reports from police of any injuries.

The white car was stopped being driven along Queens Drive just outside Liverpool.

Merseyside Police's Roads Policing Unit shared the image and said the driver 'had been in an RTC on the M6'.

The driver was later 'reported' and the car 'recovered and prohibited', said police.

On Twitter, the specialist unit said: "We were lost for words when we saw this being driven along Queens Drive! The driver had been in an RTC on the M6 and decided it was safe for her to continue her journey into Liverpool.

"She has been reported and the vehicle was recovered and prohibited." No further details have been revealed by the force.
