Man rushed to hospital with 'head injury' as police lock down road in Glasgow's east end

A man has been rushed to hospital with a head injury after an assault in Glasgow's east end.

A heavy police presence is at the scene of the ongoing incident near the Barrowland Ballroom.

Officers are patrolling the road and police tape is in place.

Police have since confirmed a man has been taken to hospital with a head injury after being 'assaulted'.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We were called around 6.40pm on Tuesday, 19 April, to a report of an assault in the Gallowgate area of Glasgow.

"A man has been taken to hospital with a head injury and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
