An Edinburgh street has been locked down by police this morning following an alleged stabbing.
Emergency services raced to Main Street in the Davidson's Mains area of the capital at roughly 12.05am last night after receiving reports of a serious assault.
A 20-year-old was found injured and taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Local reports suggest that the person was stabbed.
A source said: "My sister stays down that way and she heard that apparently there has been a stabbing." A police investigation has since been launched and the road remains closed this morning between Quality Street and Corbiehill Road.
Traffic is starting to build in the area, with motorists being diverted from the scene and locals advised to avoid the area.
A service update on the Lothian Buses website reads: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Main Street Davidson's Mains and are instead diverted via Hillhouse Road in both directions until further notice.
"The service 21 will be diverted via Corbiehill Road in both directions until further notice."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.05am on Friday, 21 April, 2023, officers were called to a report of a serious assault on Main Street, Edinburgh.
"A 20-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing."
