Police have launched a murder investigation into the death of a 51-year-old woman on Bribie Island, north of Brisbane.
Officers went to a home at Bongaree for a welfare check just before 9pm on Thursday and found the woman's body inside the home.
Detective Inspector Ben Fadian said there had been reports of a disturbance on Wednesday night around 11pm.
He said police had also been called to the Melia Street address the week before.
"The first responders who attended the scene did attempt to render assistance, but it was quite clear at that stage she was already deceased," Detective Inspector Fadian said.
He said the investigation was at an early stage.
"We're conducting the investigation as a homicide. We don't have any firm suspects at this stage," Detective Inspector Fadian said.
He said the woman was believed to be the only person living at the home.
"Our scientific section has conducted examinations inside the house, we've door knocked the area, we've taken witness statements and we're speaking to people in the area who may have information about what's occurred," Detective Inspector Fadian said.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the island, and are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage between 6pm and midnight on Wednesday to contact them.
