Police issue new appeal for woman missing for six months

Police have renewed their appeal for information on a woman who has been missing for six months. Bristol woman Denise Jarvis, 43, was last seen on the evening of Wednesday, August 3, in the area of Southey Park, in Kingswood, South Gloucestershire.

Police say Denise has not been in contact with her family or friends since that date and officers are very concerned for her welfare. There is also no evidence of her using her phone or credit card in the last six months, but continue to review phone communications and past financial transactions.

Avon and Somerset police force are asking people to contact them directly through this portal with any information or direct sightings. Police are currently following up with a recent direct sighting of Denise but say there has been no proof that she is alive, BristolLive reports.

Denise is described as petite, about 5ft 5ins with strawberry blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a green body warmer and white flat shoes.

Senior Investigating Officer, Det Insp Ben Lavender, said: “We remain extremely concerned about the welfare of 44-year-old Denise Jarvis, who has not been seen since she went missing in August 2022. Denise was last seen by a witness in Southey Park, Kingswood, on the evening of Wednesday, August 3.

“She has not been in contact with her family or friends since this date, and there is currently no evidence of her using a phone or accessing her bank account since this date. We’ve carried out extensive searches of the area where she was last seen, as well as other intelligence and POLSA-led searches, some of which have involved the use of police divers.

“Enquiries are very much continuing and there will be further searches conducted, as we do everything we can to find out what happened to Denise. In addition, we’re continuing to review phone and communications data, as well as past financial transactions, and are speaking with all known relatives, friends and associates of Denise.

“We did have a report of a recent sighting of Denise, which we are following up, and we’d encourage anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible. We’d ask people to contact us direct with all sightings, so we can follow them up as soon as possible.

“If you know where Denise is, please call 999 quoting reference 5222186376, or call 101 with any other information. We have also launched an online portal featuring our appeal, which will allow people to send information direct to officers working on this investigation. You can access the portal through this link ."

In an earlier statement the Senior Investigating officer for the case said: “Denise is described as white, she has long blonde hair and was last seen wearing a navy floral dress, a green sleeveless puffer-style jacket and white shoes. Denise also has links with Reading and Stourport, and has an interest in narrowboats.

“We also want to make a direct appeal to Denise to get in touch." In a statement addressing Denise directly, a spokesperson for the police said: "Your family are very worried about you and only want to know that you’re safe. Please get in touch with us, or with one of your loved ones, as soon as you can, so we can get you any support or help you need".

Her family issued a plea to the public to help them find Denise after she first went missing on August 4. The family said at the time: "We are all worried about her and just want to know she is safe and well.

"We have not seen nor heard from her since Wednesday, August 3. We have reported her missing to the police. We are all concerned for her welfare, we just want to know she is ok."
