Police have urged people to come forward after a fatal crash on the M1 in the East Midlands. Emergency services were called at around 6.45pm on Tuesday, 31 May to a stretch of the southbound carriageway between junctions 22 and 21a, following a report a pedestrian had been struck by a heavy goods vehicle.
Officers attended but the man – who was in his 40s – was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for several hours while police investigated the scene.
No-one has been arrested in connection with the incident. Detective Constable Kasie Carter, of Leicestershire Police, said: “While we have spoken to a number of people already, I would ask anyone who saw the collision occur to come forward.

“I’m particularly keen to speak to any motorists with a dashcam in their vehicle or anyone who saw the man prior to the collision. Any information you have, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could help.”
The road was closed overnight while investigations began. It was eventually re-opened to traffic at about 4am, according to National Highways. People can pass on information by visiting Leicestershire Police's website and quoting reference 22*312707. Or can call 101.
