Police investigation goes on after early-morning Irvine stabbing

Police today said they are following a 'positive line of enquiry' after a stabbing in North Ayrshire.

It is understood the man was attacked at a house in Irvine in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Clark Drive around 2am on April 9 with the man subsequently receiving treatment.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to Kilmarnock's Crosshouse Hospital in what was described as a serious condition.

A spokesperson for Ayrshire police told Ayrshire Live: "The latest is enquiries are ongoing and officers are following a positive line of enquiry."

NHS Ayrshire & Arran was unable to provide an update on the man's condition when contacted.
