Police investigating a reported assault in Tameside say they are now satisfied no crime was committed. Officers were called to Audenshaw Reservoir at around 4.30pm on Monday (May 9) following reports a man had assaulted a girl.
It prompted schools to send out a warning text to parents. Denton Community College’s message said that children should 'be vigilant, avoid the area altogether or not go there alone'. Following enquiries, officers located and spoke to the two people involved in the incident.

Now a GMP Inspector has confirmed no crime is believed to have been committed. Inspector Toby Knight, from GMP's Tameside South and West Neighbourhood Team, said: "Enquiries by local officers led to the two people being identified - they have been spoken to and it has been established that no assault took place, supported by CCTV enquiries conducted.”
Any incidents can be reported to GMP by calling 101 or online at the force's website, while 999 should be called in an emergency. Reports can also be made anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by phoning 0800 555 111.
