Police investigating after Porsche set on fire in Scottish town

POLICE are investigating after a Porsche Cayenne was deliberately set on fire in a “reckless act” in Airdrie.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Broomfield Street, near the junction with South Biggar Road, at around 9.10pm on Wednesday.

The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and nobody was injured.

Police are appealing for information about the incident in North Lanarkshire, which they are treating as deliberate.

Detective Constable David Williamson of Coatbridge CID said: “We are fortunate that no-one was hurt in this reckless act, but the damaged caused to the vehicle is significant.

“Our inquiries are ongoing and we are urging anyone with information or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have dashcam footage or private CCTV from the surrounding area that could assist with our inquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 3838 of September 11, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
