Police in Washington state are investigating an incident involving an 'improvised explosive device' found outside a cannabis shop in Tacoma on Friday. A suspect was caught on camera dropping off the homemade device and throwing a Molotov cocktail at the shop, as shown in a video shared by Tacoma Police.
The owner of Craft Cannabis, James Bean, is seeking help in identifying the individual involved in the March 15 incident. Bean, who owns multiple pot shops, including the targeted Tacoma store, mentioned that the location had been experiencing thefts and threats since February.
Bean described how the situation escalated on Friday when someone attempted to set one of his buildings on fire. Fortunately, the device was safely disposed of by Tacoma Police. However, the shop was targeted again on Sunday morning, resulting in damage to part of its sign.
Police responded to reports of a fire at the shop on Sunday morning, where two individuals were seen fleeing the scene. No arrests were made, and no injuries were reported. Investigators are urging anyone with information about the attacks to come forward.
Tacoma Police stated that they are treating these incidents as related and are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the attacks. They believe the owner's suspicion that the attacks are retaliatory due to offering products at lower prices than competitors.
