Police stumbled upon drugs worth £35,000 when they went to a house to interview an assault suspect.
They seized 60,000 street Valium pills and 703 grams of cannabis from the property, Hamilton Sheriff Court heard this week.
Declan Duffy, 27, a prisoner, admitted being concerned in the supply of both drugs at the house in Kirkhill Road, Netherton, on January 24 this year.
He also admitted assaulting a 64-year-old man, breaching a bail order by driving a car and using the vehicle without insurance.
Jennifer Cunningham, prosecuting, said the assault victim was removing items from a vehicle outside his home in Kilmichael Avenue, Newmains, about half past midnight.
Duffy, who was accompanied by a female, pulled up in a Nissan Juke and asked the victim if his son was at the house.
The man said he wasn’t and a “heated discussion” started.
Ms Cunningham told the court: “The accused pushed the victim to the ground, causing him to twist his ankle and skin his knee. A neighbour heard the commotion and contacted the police.
“Officers went to the Kirkhill Road address and were allowed access by the accused’s partner, Kayleigh Meikle. The accused was found hiding in a bed.
“The officers noticed drugs paraphernalia in the living room and a search was carried out later.
“They recovered about 60,000 street Valium tablets with a street value of £28,000 and 703 grams of cannabis worth around £7200.
“Duffy said ‘Watch my vallies’ and when asked about the cannabis replied ‘All of it’s mine’.”
Meikle, 22, was also charged with the drugs offences but had her not guilty pleas accepted.
The court heard Duffy has had two other recent cases involving drugs and is serving a 30-month prison sentence.
Defence agent Stephen MacBride said the ventilation engineer has been detoxing while in jail and also attending Narcotics Anonymous.
Sheriff Liam Murphy decided not to add to Duffy’s current sentence, but continued the case until June next year for a report on his progress in prison.
