Police hunt masked man after armed robbery at Ayrshire petrol station

Police are hunting a masked man who carried out a late-night armed raid at a petrol station in Stevenston.

The terrifying incident took place at Ardeer Service Station on Monday, November 21.

Officers say a man entered the premises at around 11.45pm threatened a member of staff with a weapon and demanded money.

He then made off on Glencairn Street with a two-figure sum of cash.

The suspect is described as being of heavy build. He was wearing a snood or similar to cover his face, a black beanie hat and a navy blue jacket.

Detective Constable Bryn Meehan said: “Thankfully no-one was injured as a result of this incident but the staff member was left understandably shaken.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with any information, including anyone else who was in the garage at the time to contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone who saw a man matching the description above in the area to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 3823 of 21 November, 2022.
