Police hunt after man bottles stranger on Piccadilly line train in shocking attack

Police have released images of a man they would like to speak to - (BTP)

Police have launched a search after a man attacked another with a bottle on a Piccadilly line train in an unprovoked attack.

The victim had boarded the eastbound train from South Ealing station at around 2pm on Friday January 9 when the attack occurred.

Before alighting at Hammersmith Underground station, he was approached by another man.

The man offered him a drink of alcohol, which the victim refused.

According to British Transport Police, the other man then became aggressive and abusive.

The incident occurred on January 9 (BTP)

He hit the victim on the head with a wine bottle, causing it to shatter and leaving deep cuts.

The victim was left needing emergency treatment in hospital.

Police have now released images of a man they think could have information which would assist their investigation.

The man pictured is wearing a black gilet, a black beanie hat and white trainers.

Anyone who recognises him is asked to text BTP on 61016, or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 295 of 9 January.

Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
