Police helicopter out as suspects hide in garden after car stolen

Two men have been arrested after a police chase last night.

Police were called to reports that a stolen car pulled up on Carr Lane, Moreton, and people got out with weapons. Officers went to the scene and with help from police dogs and the National Police Air Service helicopter, they searched the area.

Two suspects were then found hiding in the back garden of a house on Millhouse Lane. The men were arrested and the suspected stolen car was recovered on Tern Way.

A 25-year-old man, from Poulton, and a 30-year-old man, from Everton, were arrested on suspicion of affray, theft of a motor vehicle, and being found in or upon enclosed premises. They remain in custody to be questioned.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We have arrested two men on suspicion of affray and vehicle crime following an incident in Moreton last night, Thursday 16 February. At around 9.30pm, officers were called to reports that a man had been on Carr Lane when stolen car pulled up and the occupants approached him, reportedly in possession of weapons.

"Officers, assisted by our Dog Unit and National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter searched the area and located two men in a rear garden on Millhouse Lane. They were detained. A suspected stolen vehicle was recovered in Tern Way.

"Enquiries are ongoing so if you witnessed this incident or have any information, CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage to assist, please contact @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with reference 23000138695."
