Police guard flats in Lanarkshire town after reports of a 'violent disturbance'

Police have cordoned off a block of flats in East Kilbride following reports of two nights of violence.

Officers are standing guard at Ivanhoe in the Calderwood area of the town with police tape blocking off the rear of the property.

Lanarkshire Live understands cops have been on the scene since early yesterday morning (Wednesday) following reported disturbances on Monday and Tuesday night.

Unconfirmed reports emerging online suggest a body was removed from the property yesterday. Police Scotland have not yet gotten back to Lanarkshire Live regarding this.

Plain clothed CID have been going door-to-door seeking information and asking for dashcam footage as enquiries continue.

One neighbour told us: "There was a disturbance Monday night.

"I don't know if it's related, but I came home last night and had two plain clothes CID asking loads of questions.
