Police have dismissed social media rumours about an attempted child abduction in Rochdale. Officers said they had investigated claims about an incident involving a pupil at Hollingworth Academy.
Rumours about an attempted child abduction at the junction of Equitable Street and Station Road, in Milnrow, began circulating on a Facebook group earlier today (Tuesday). It was suggested that a van was involved in the incident.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed it was aware of the social media posts and an investigation had been carried out. After reviewing CCTV footage and other lines of enquiry, officers said they do not believe any crime took place.
