Police cordon off road after woman 'hit by taxi' and taken to hospital

A woman was taken to hospital after being 'hit by a taxi' in south Manchester.

The crash happened on Wilmslow Road in Didsbury, near the junction with Parrs Wood Avenue, at around 4.40pm yesterday (Thursday). A cordon was put in place on the road near a row of shops and takeaways.

An eyewitness at the scene told the Manchester Evening News the woman, who was a pedestrian, was hit by a taxi. A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said she was taken to hospital from the scene with head injuries.

In a statement, the NWAS spokesperson said: "We were called to an RTC at 4.38pm last night on Wilmslow Road. We dispatched an ambulance with two rapid response vehicles to the scene who treated a female with head injuries and transported them to Manchester Royal infirmary."

No further details have been provided by Greater Manchester Police.
