Police commissioner axes ‘ridiculous’ nationwide theatre tour

  • Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner Colin Sutton has cancelled a planned nationwide theatre tour following public backlash.
  • The Reform UK politician was scheduled to host 130 appearances of a live stage show across the UK over 11 months in 2027.
  • Critics, including Labour MP Ben Goldsborough, questioned the venture, saying that “you can't police a county from the back of a tour bus”.
  • Sutton initially defended the tour, but has now withdrawn to reassure residents that he takes his £79,052-a-year role seriously, saying that the number of planned appearances was “ridiculous”.
  • The former Metropolitan Police detective led the investigation that brought serial killer Levi Bellfield to justice.
