Police close road after car smashes into house

PEOPLE have been urged to "avoid the area" after a car crashed into a house.

Police have shut off Glasgow Road in Blantyre between the junctions of Whistleberry Road and Parkville Drive.

The force says this is due to a car crashing into a house as well as a gas leak.

No one is reported to have been injured.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Glasgow Road in Blantyre is closed between the junctions for Whistleberry Road and Parkville Drive following a car crashing into a house and a gas leak.

"There are no reported injuries. Motorists are advised to avoid the area."
